Replacing the Laser Scanner Assembly HP Color LaserJet 5500 5550

 The laser scanner assembly is a fairly common part to fail on the HP Color LaserJet 5500 and 5550 models.  If you are seeing repeated error codes of 51.10, 51.11, 51.12, 51.13, 51.20, 51.21, 51.22, 51.23, you should replace the laser scanner. This is considered an advanced procedure.  Instructions for replacing this assembly are available for download below.

A couple notes --

There are four laser scanner assemblies, one for each color.  These laser scanner assemblies are common to fail on the HP Color LaserJet 5500 or 5550 .

The laser scanner assemblies are different between the Color LaserJet 5500 and the LaserJet 5550 series. See the purchasing links below and make sure you order the correct replacement. Also, make sure you order from us, PrinterTechs! Some sellers do NOT properly test their laser scanner assemblies, and because this is a major repair, you want to make sure you are installing a quality product. Imagine the pain of going through a long disassembly and installation process, only to get the same error code because the seller did not sell you a properly tested / working product.
