Replacing the separation pad.

Remove Tray 2 and remove the 2 screws holding the separation pad assembly in place. Pull up on the assembly and remove it from the tray.

Notice below that the replacement separation pad is seated in a smaller housing. Unfortunately the larger separation pad housing is not available as a replacement part, so you will need to transfer the black pad from the smaller housing to the larger housing.

Start by disassembling the new assembly and removing the new separation pad.

Begin with the new pad assembly. Release and remove the metal plate as shown at right. Pry up on the metal plate near the bottom to release the plate from the tabs circled in yellow.

The black separation pad is hooked into a small white piece of plastic. Pry to release this white clip from the base.

Separate the components of the new pad assembly and save the new black separation pad.

Next you will disassemble the old frame and prepare to install the new pad.

Release the metal plate from your old assembly as shown at right: pry the metal plate upward near the bottom and slide the plate over the retaining tabs.

In this version of the separation pad assembly, the separation pad is held in place with a small black plastic retaining clip pictured below.

Pry the retaining clip from the base and remove it. The separation pad can be removed as well.

Save the black retaining clip.

Reassemble the separation pad with the retaining clip and spring. Go ahead and fit these 3 pieces together, hold them securely as you press down to install them all at once.

Reassemble the metal plate onto the old frame, install the old frame back in the tray, and attach the 2 screws.
