For HP LaserJets 5si and 8000 series printers, Hewlett Packard recommends the installation of a maintenance kit after every 350,000 pages printed. This is a rough estimate and you may need to install a maintenance kit far sooner than that depending on printing conditions and if the printer has been previously serviced with low quality aftermarket parts.

After talking with hundreds of customers over the phone about installing printer maintenance kits we decided to write our own manuals. The instructions we found from Hewlett Packard and other sources were missing lots of information and often didn't contain any pictures. So here you are!
