HP Laserjet 4, 4 Plus, and 5 cassette pickup roller installation

** Note: The maintenance kit installation procedures are identical for the laserjet 4, 4M, 4 Plus, 4M Plus, 5, 5M, 5N. **

Remove the toner cartridge and the lower tray. Turn the printer on its side so you can access the bottom of the printer. The roller is circled in the picture below. Squeeze the two tabs and pull the roller off the shaft. To install the new roller, rotate it on the shaft until it is alligned and clicks into place.
