Fold down the rear cover, and remove the three screws circled as callout 1 of picture below.

Notice the next 3 pictures. Begin sliding the right cover toward the back of the printer as shown below.  Before the right cover will come completely off, there is a mounting tab you need to release. See the 2nd picture below for location of mounting tab.

Release the hidden mounting tab, and continue removing the cover as shown in the next 2 pictures.

Completely remove the right side cover.

NOTE: Notice all the catches and tabs in the picture below, you will need to be careful with these later when you have finished with the repair and you are reinstalling this side cover.

Removing the Rear Upper Cover (duplexing models CP2025DN or CP2025X)

There are 2 versions of this printer, duplexing models (CP2025DN or CP2025X) and non-duplexing models (CP2025N).  The 2 versions have different rear covers on the back of the printer, so there will be different steps for removing the rear covers depending on your model.   Follow the directions below, and watch for any directions specific to your version of the printer.

If you have a duplex model CP2025DN or CP2025X, open the rear cover, and remove 2 screws as shown in callout 1 of picture below. (If you have a non-duplex model, skip to the next applicable step)

If you have a duplex model CP2025DN or CP2025X, gently wiggle and rotate the cover down and away from the printer, and remove the cover as shown below. (If you have a non-duplex model, skip to the next applicable step)

Removing the Upper Cover Assembly (all models)

Next, you will be removing the upper-cover assembly.  Remove one screw as shown in picture below.

Release one tab (callout 2 in picture below).

Gently rotate the back side of the top cover up and away, carefully rotating it off the printer to release the mounting tabs.  See pictures below which show removing the cover (1st picture) and to see the back side of the cover (2nd picture below) which shows the location of the tabs.

NOTE: When you are finished with the repair and you begin reinstalling the upper cover, notice again the location of those mounting tabs and make sure they are seated correctly to avoid breaking any tabs on re-install.  Below is a re-install tip which shows the top cover installed correctly versus incorrectly.

Remove the rear-door stopper and link caps (non-duplex model CP2025N)

If you have a non-duplex model CP2025N, open the rear door, and use a pair of needle-nose pliers to release 2 tabs, and remove the link cap as shown in picture below. (If you have a duplex model, skip to the next applicable step)

If you have a non-duplex model CP2025N, use a small flatblade screwdriver to carefully remove the remaining link cap, and then remove the rear-door stopper. (If you have a duplex model, skip to the next applicable step)

Remove the rear-door (non-duplex model CP2025N)

If you have a non-duplex model CP2025N, remove four screws as shown in the picture below. (If you have a duplex model, skip to the next applicable step)

If you have a non-duplex model CP2025N,  Reinstall tip --> See picture below.  Make sure the wire harnesses at the top of the printer near the left side cover are correctly retained, so they won't be pinched when you reinstall the rear cover.  (If you have a duplex model, skip to the next applicable step)

Remove rear door (duplex model CP2025DN and CP2025X)

If you have a duplex model CP2025DN or CP2025X, Open the rear door, use the green handle to close the duplex-feed assembly. See picture below.  (If you have a non-duplex model, skip to the next applicable step)
