51.10 error on HP LaserJet P4014 P4015 P4515

The error code 51.10 is becoming more common as these LaserJet P4014 P4015 P4515 models age.  This 51.10 error code points to a failure with the laser scanner assembly, and to fix this error usually you end up replacing the laser scanner assembly. You can try turning the printer off and back on, which may temporarily reset the error and let you print a few more pages.  Usually the scanner malfunctions again and the error code returns. Fortunately on this model, replacing the laser scanner assembly is not considered difficult.  The assembly sits directly underneath the top cover of the printer. Instructions for replacing this assembly are available below.

The laser scanner assembly is a fairly common part to fail on the HP LaserJet P4014, P4015, and  P4515 models. If you are seeing repeated error codes of 51.10 or similar, you should replace the laser scanner.
