The HP Color LaserJet 5500 series is HP's heavy duty wide format printer, capable of printing 11x17 pages in color.
Our refurbished 5500dtn includes a built-in duplexer for two-sided printing, plus a JetDirect card for connecting the printer to a network. This printer comes with three 500-sheet paper cassettes; the bottom cassette is on wheels for easy transport.
This is an excellent printer for medium to high volume color printing.It is a standard workhorse in offices all over the world.

Why we recommend the Color LaserJet 5500
- 11"X17" printing. Very few Color laser printers have the capacity to print these large-format pages. Most that do are either (a) very expensive or (b) do not have the reputation of being a "workhorse".
- Toner cartridges for this model are large capacity, 13,000 page yield at 5% coverage. Smaller color LaserJets only print 2,000-4,000 pages per cartridge, resulting in a higher cost per page.
- LaserJet 5500 remanufactured toners are readily available and reasonably priced. Toner cartridges for new printers tend to be ridiculously expensive. See below for a cost analysis.

When shopping for printers people usually forget to look at the cost of consumables (toner, transfer kit, fuser, etc). The total cost of owner ship is often ignored with printers. New printers are manufactured as vehicles to sell you more toner or ink. In many cases a set of new toner cartridges costs more than the new printer. But remember -- the cartridges that come with many new printers are only partially filled. The manufacturer wants you buying toner right away.

Our refurbished Laserjet 5500’s ship ready to print. We rebuild the fuser and install genuine HP rollers and separation pads. These are more expensive but you get improved performance compared to cheap aftermarket parts. We include a set of used consumables: starter toner cartridges and a transfer kit. Life expectancy is unknown for the starter toners and transfer kit. We would rather include them with the printer than recycle them before the end of their life expectancy. We recommend buying a set of toner cartridges for backup.
