Output Assembly LaserJet 4, 4 plus, 5 - Installation - Part 1

Purchasing Information (links to our Yahoo store)

If you experience an "accordion" type of paper jam as paper exits your LaserJet 4, 4 plus, or 5 series printer the output (exit) assembly is most likely the cause of the problem. This is a fairly common problem and is easily remedied with a replacement output assembly.

Side panel removal.

First, turn your printer off and unplug it. Facing the printer, you need to remove the right side-panel and the top panel. Open the toner access door and remove the toner. Then press down on the tab shown below to loosen the front of the side panel.

Then face the back of the printer. If you have a LaserJet 4 or 4 plus you need to press down hard on the area circled below to release the back of the right side panel. If you have a LaserJet 5 you need to remove the screw.

The LaserJet 5 pictured to the left has a screw, the 4 and 4 plus you need to press to release the tab pictured above.
