Perform Printer Maintenance Message HP LaserJet 4000 4050 4100 4200 4300 4250 4350 P4014 P4015 P4515
If you are seeing the message "Perform Printer Maintenance" on your HP LaserJet printer (includes HP LaserJet 4000, 4050, 4100, 4200, 4250, 4300, 4350, P4014, P4015, P4515 series) this means your printer has reached its full maintenance cycle and is due for a maintenance kit to be installed.
What is a maintenance kit?
In printers, nothing lasts forever. Moving parts need replacing with use and time. Maintenance kits, sometimes called PM kits or preventative maintenance kits, usually consist of a fuser (the heating assembly that bonds toner to the fibers of the paper), a transfer roller (which helps transfer toner from the toner cartridge onto the paper), and various feed rollers, pickup rollers, separation rollers and separation pads.
When purchasing a maintenance kit, remember that like toner cartridges, there is a wide variety of quality in the marketplace. Many companies sell maintenance kits with untested, poor quality parts. At PrinterTechs we have technicians on staff to test parts to ensure high quality, and provide technical support if you have installation questions. If you have any questions call or email us, 866-352-7108.
For business-class LaserJet printers you can expect to install several maintenance kits over the life of the printer. Fortunately, installing a maintenance kit on any of the models mentioned above is considered a "self repair" item and should not require a visit from an onsite technician.
