Grinding noise on HP LaserJet P4014 P4015 P4515
One common failure part on the HP LaserJet P4014, P4015, and P4515 series is a set of worn plastic gears in the fuser drive assembly. The primary symptom will be a grinding-type noise coming from the rear of the printer. When the gears are extremely worn you may also experience paper jamming near the fuser entrance and general fuser area.
Often, the noise becomes more obvious when a new fuser is installed, because the gears on the new fuser do not mesh well with the worn-out plastic gears in your printer.
We sell an upgraded metal gear repair kit to fix this problem. Our new kit features a heavy-duty brass fuser drive gear as a substitute for the flimsy plastic gear. Replacing these gears is an involved process. For those of you familiar with printer repair, the installation steps will be similar to replacing the swing plate on the LaserJet 4250/4350 series printers.
You can purchase the gear kit below and also find links to installation instructions.
